In early 2019, NASA assumed Opportunity to be lost on Mars, ending all communication attempts with the geologist-robot on wheels. In their live-performance, Grit Kit, homonym and jit.horse follow their suspicions that Opportunity has been up to something else since that heavy sand storm in the summer of 2018. Why was she suddenly covering her tracks? Was she talking to microbes? Joining a feminist A.I.-compound? Secretly sending messages to her twin Spirit? Recreating her steps before the sky turned red and imagining a different narrative for Oppy and her accomplices, “Lost on Mars” is a space travel with an en-lightning twist.

Anfang 2019 ging die NASA davon aus, dass Opportunity auf dem Mars verloren gegangen sei, und beendete alle Kommunikationsversuche mit dem Geologen-Roboter auf Rädern. Warum verwischte sie plötzlich ihre Spuren? Sprach sie mit Mikroben? Trat sie einer feministischen K.I.-Verbindung bei? Sendete sie heimlich Nachrichten an ihren Zwilling Spirit? Ihre Schritte nachverfolgend, bevor der Himmel sich rot färbte, und ein anderes Narrativ für Oppy und ihre Komplizen spinnend, ist »Lost on Mars« eine Reise durch den Raum mit einer erleuchtenden Wendung.
